Un gran patio es este mundo,
en una fiesta de piñatas.
Asi es la fiesta de la vida,
a veces dulce y a veces ingrata.
Bien clavados en este patio
resaltan dos altos palos,
en pareja más no tan juntos,
uno es lo bueno y el otro es lo malo.
Una riata entre los dos se estira;
es el lazo del amor que ata,
Doña Verdad y Doña Mentira
a cada lado jalan la riata.
De la riata cuelga un hilo
que ha torcido La Esperanza
y del hilo se sujeta el alma,
la cual cuelga como piñata.
Cuelga en lo alto la piñata
y con picos se resguarda,
más adentro de ella guarda
golosinas dulces y amargas.
Bajo de ella esta una fila
de aniñadas circunstancias,
y a golpearla se perfilan
con un garrote de arrogancia.
Cada una de ellas lleva
una venda de ignorancia.
Emociones se liberan
y el mitote se desata.
Se desgarra la piñata
en variadas ocasiones,
pues no sólo los golpes matan,
también matan los jalones.
Se desgarra la piñata
sin saber qué le avecina
y la fiesta se termina
cuando al fin se desbarata.
Asi es la fiesta de la vida,
a veces dulce y a veces ingrata.

The aforementioned custom is remembered in the towns of the southeastern part of the province of Segovia.

Isa de la Piñata
The piñata dance or the Isa de la Piñata, as it is known in Pinolere, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, were a constant in all the pagos of the area.
